Freddy Cruz y su Fuerza Latina – “la Solución” – Making of

The title track “la Solución” is of multiple sense, it’s about Danny Cruz having a problem with the recording equipment one night, inspired when he finally found the solution he and Freddy wrote the song the next morning, and it also means “we made it happen”
Thanks to an online radio programm I came to know about Freddy Cruz’ struggle for making a musician life in Colombia . Some months later we met in Barranquilla during carnival, listened a lot of music and - decided to make our own thing.
So we did in September, 10 tracks ready, penned and arranged by Freddy and with more than a little help from our friends, it took only two weeks for recording and mixing – thanks to all the musicians doing a great job. Emiro y Emirito Santiago, the percussioniosts father and son, have played with Freddy for ages, young piano player Eduardo Vega has been nicknamed “Amadeo” since we heard his beautiful riffs.
Jhonny Arzuza is what they call a “personaje”, you’re always having fun when he’s around , enjoy his smooth voice singing or talking about his experience with Joe Arroyo and the music scene.
Moisés Leyva and “Pachalo” put a rich cuban jazz flavour to the descarga and Fito the cumbia drums on Salsacumbé.
Freddy “daddy” sings and “sonea”, plays this wonderful rootsy ‘bone and knows exactly what it’s about, so does his son Danny, bass player, chorist and sound engineer – multitalents both.
Sounds like a “home story” and somehow it is, all songs were recorded, mixed and mastered in Freddy’s studio – among friends and family – thank you all
We had a great time, shared unforgetable moments – you should have listened to Aníbal Velásquez’ crime stories on the taxi ride – and could celebrate the CD ready on Freddy’s birthday – hope you enjoy it just as much ...
